I recently had a nice experience in the PTY airport, surprise TSA check notwithstanding. I was flying to Mexico from Puerto Rico (the reason I had to go via Panama is a story for another time), and even though PR has great food, a little food cart in the PTY airport had the best empanadas I've had in a long time. Also, I noticed that announcements and signage were also in Portuguese - which makes sense, since Copa does fly to Brazil. I have family there so I may be coming this way again! And I will definitely schedule a long layover so we can explore Panama City along the way.
@Julie and Lurko in Mexico Yesssss, the empanadas here are top notch!!!! Hoping your trip to Panama was a positive one! It really is the crossroads city for the Americas.
After spending almost 20 USD on drinks, that second "tsa" check was quite the expensive shock! And Copa barely slaked my thirst in flight with the tiniest cup of water. Trying to figure out how to overcome dehydration the next time I leave Panama!
Oh my goodness Lorraine!! I commiserate - I’ve had to take the lids off hot coffee to let it cool it down so I could chug before I got to the end of the line. And the cups on board are tinyyyyy.
All the Americans in line were in culture shock... 🤣🤣 we are so used to relaxing with a beverage while we wait for the flight! 🤣🤣 oh well... live and learn! 🤷🏻♀️
